A 36-years old man was on Friday charged for raping his teenage neighbor. The man identified as Robert Otwori pleaded not guilty to the charges before Nyando Resident Magistrate, Thomas Wechuli.
The court heard that on June 26 this year, at around 4pm the girl was bathing unaware that her neighbor who was lives next to their home was peeping through the bathroom door.
Prosecutor Nancy Makuve told the court that after watching the fourteen year old girl taking a bath the Otwori followed her to her room where he then touched her breast telling her that she had the most beautiful body he had ever seen.
At the time the victim was home alone as her parents and siblings were away taking care of other errands. The prosecution further revealed that the Otwori pulled the teenager to the bed, pinned her down and raped her once. According to the prosecutor, the girl screamed for help but no one came to her rescue. After the attack the girl was told not tell anyone but she quickly rushed to her grandmothers homestead were she narrated her ordeal.
The girl was taken to hospital where the matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused. Otwori is remanded in police custody until the 18th of next month for a hearing.
