Solomon Kitunyi, a resident of Chulaimbo, denied the charges before Maseno resident magistrate Philip Oilo.

Kitunyi was detained by Oilo for two more weeks in order to allow the prosecution finalise the investigation into the matter which is involving a three-acre piece of land located in Chulaimbo area of Kisumu.

According to the prosecution, Kitunyi sold the land to two different people without their knowledge.  He is alleged to have sold the land to Catherine Kemunto at a cost of Sh500,000 which was fully paid.

However, when Kemunto had gone to fence the land she was approached by an angry Martin Otolo who claimed that the land had been sold to him on January 15 this year.

The confrontation took place on September 15 this year. Both Kemunto and Otolo had title deeds whic later turned out to be fake. The two deeds were presented in court as exhibits.

The matter was reported to the police, who launched investigations into the matter. Kitunyi is said to have ran away from home upon learning that police were after him. He was arrested on September 28 in Kisumu.

He is expected to be in remand untill October 15 when a bail application will be made.
