A Kisumu MCA was last night attacked by thugs who shot at him and was rushed to Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu. Maurice Aloo, representing Ahero ward in Nyando constituency, was attacked by two thugs brandishing guns at his rural home at about 9pm. Aloo, who was with his family, recounted that the two men stormed his home and took him hostage alongside his family members. He said one thug had a pistol while the other had a rifle. They demanded cash from the lawmaker, who says gave them Sh10,000 but they demanded more. “I gave all the cash I had but they continued demanding more and then they started harassing my family members," he said. At one point, one thug started harassing his family members and that made him to pounce on the other one and wrestled him to the ground, he said. His pistol fell over and the other rushed to his rescue and shot Aloo on the thigh. Other family members then raised an alarm, prompting the thugs to run for safety and picked the pistol but forgot to pick a mobile phone and jacket. Police later moved to the scene and picked the two items as exhibits that will help in identifying the two thugs. Aloo is currently recuperating at Aga Khan hospital where he is in stable condition.
