Milimani MCA Edwin Anayo will not defend his seat during the 2017 general election.

Mr Anayo who was elected on a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said he wants to take a break from politics and concentrate in his business.

Anayo, widely known for his car hire business said he has a lot of businesses to take care of, and taking a break from politics was the best way to help streamline his business ventures.

Speaking to this writer on Saturday, he said he is focusing on bigger political position in 2022 when he will return to politics.

“I have said it over and over that I will not be vying any position in 2017, but will be back to politics in 2022 to run for Migori County gubernatorial position,” said Anayo.

The Minority Whip in Kisumu County Assembly is one of the MCAs who have been critical of Governor Jack Ranguma’s leadership.

He said he will however, support a good candidate to take over from him when elections come.

“Up to now I have not seen any serious candidate who wants to replace me but when the right time comes I will support a candidate I who can offer quality leadership,” he said.

In 2013, Anayo battled for the position with Seth Adui on an ODM ticket.

Adui was awarded the party certificate after the bungled nomination which Anayo contested prompting him to decamp to PDP.

The young county legislator then triumphed Adui during the main election to join the few MCAs who made it to the Assembly against ODM candidates.
