The motion of no confidence in the deputy speaker was tabled by minority leader Bob Ndolo and seconded by Philip Koko. However, Ndolo said that going by the mood of the house, the deputy speaker should not be impeached.

"Going by the mood of the house and after yesterday's reconciliation, I withdraw this motion until a later date," said Ndolo.

He had initially asked the chair's guidance as to whether it was right to impeach a sitting deputy speaker.

But, Omino allowed the motion to progress saying she will step aside should county assembly members decide to impeach her.

"I want to allow proceeding with the motion and I know it will be seconded. After it has been seconded, it is upon the members to decide and I will step aside you discuss," said Omino.

On Tuesda, former minority leader Edwin Anayo denied claims that the opposition was the driving force behind a motion to censure the deputy speaker.

He said the censure motion against Omino is a project of the majority leader but he is doing it through the back door.

"I want to say the motion to impeach the speaker has been engineered by the majority party through backdoor," said Anayo.
