A section of Kisumu MCAs have accused the assembly majority leader Samuel Ongow of undermining and frustrating members.

The county legislators, who sought anonymity, claimed that Ongow looks down upon the county assembly members, thereby reducing their morale to contribute in the floor of the house.

“The majority leader often dismisses ideas and contribution from members of the assembly,” said a ward representative, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“He has the mentality that he is always right and never bothers to listen to what other members say.”

The MCAs appealed to acting speaker Gabriel Ochieng to come to their rescue and enhance sanity in the house.

“We are appealing to our acting speaker to intervene in this matter as members feel intimidated by our colleague.

“Each member of the assembly has a role and say in the house and it is important to respect each and every member’s views and contributions,” the MCA added.

The group, which comprised of both elected and nominated MCAs, also accused Ongow of threatening to remove those defiant to him and Governor Ranguma from the ODM party.

“We really question the authority that he has to oust us from the party. We have put the matter to the attention of our senator Anyang’ Nyong’o.”

The senator, who was away in Mexico jetted back into the country on Thursday to receive the body of the late Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang at the Kisumu airport.

The majority leader, however, dismissed the claims as baseless and petty.
