The county lawmakers have come in defence of women but have urged them to dress decently to avoid embarrassments in public.

Nominated MCA Lydia Odhiambo lashed out at the men who engage in the stripping of women, saying that it only proves that they are idle.

“I personally condemn the act as it is barbaric, uncouth and uncivilised,” she said.

“If dressing can tempt them that much, then how much can their nakedness tempt them? Are they relieved after seeing their nakedness?” she posed.

Odhiambo challenged the youth to instead venture in activities that can change their community and has called on ladies to avoid provocative dressing to avoid humiliation.

“Let us also respect our bodies as women by clothing it well as this earns us respect.”

Her sentiments were echoed by her nominated counterpart Faridah Salim, who told our reporter that the stripping of women in public should not be condoned in a civilised society.

Salim urged the public to respect the bill of rights as every citizen is protected by the Kenyan constitution.

“We are living in a society where moral decadence is the order of the day and the once-ordinary people have turned into beasts.

“I urge my fellow women to make a sound of dressing as it is a personal choice,” she said.

Nyalenda B representative James Were also condemned the act, saying that it is wrong for people to take the law in their own hands but urged ladies to dress appropriately.
