Kisumu County Assembly MCAs unanimously agreed to recognize the position of the deputy speaker Pamela Omino.
Speaking to journalists in the county after a meeting that took the better part of the day, majority leader Samuel Ong'ou said that the meeting was as a result of the meeting that was held on April 18 by the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
"In today's meeting we were to agree based on what was discussed on April 18. The meeting had all the 49 members. We have resolved that the substantive office of the clerk and the speaker shall remain closed until the office holder's cases are determined because of security reasons," said Ong'ou.
He added that they had decided that Pamela Jossy be recognised and supported in the position of deputy speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu.
He urged the County Assembly members to respect the rule of law as was directed by the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
"The office of the deputy speaker is adjacent to assembly chambers and from tomorrow she will start operating from that office," said the majority leader.
However, there is still a stalemate over who is to chair the sessions between the deputy speaker and acting speaker Gabriel Ochieng.
The MCAs held a meeting on Monday where Pamela was asked to deputize Ochieng' but she declined.
She has insisted that she will chair the assembly sessions from Tuesday and that she will use the office of the former speaker.
Speaking to journalists at the County Assembly premises, deputy speaker Pamela Omino, said that she will take over the office from speaker Ann Adul who was impeached last year.
"We held a meeting but what we did not agree on was the position of the deputy. I am the deputy speaker and the law states clearly that in the absence of the speaker, the deputy speaker should take charge of the assembly," said Omino.
She said that she would not deputise the acting speaker which is against the law.
"I am the deputy speaker.I will be in office tomorrow on an acting capacity. I will chair the sessions tomorrow with the speaker's panel," said Omino.
