A section of Kisumu County Members of County Assembly have regretted the sudden passing on of Homabay County Acting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairlady Monica Amollo.
Amollo, who had taken over as the ODM party boss in Homabay after the death of Senator Otieno Kajwang, died in a fatal road accident at Ogwedhi in Ndhiwa constituency, Homa Bay County.
She was also a Member of the County Assembly of Homabay.
Kisumu minority leader Edwin Anayo eulogised Amollo as a committed leader and a patriot to her ODM party.
“I have lost a friend who was very committed to ensuring that leadership was felt in her county. Amollo was very committed to her party and helped fight some of the challenges facing the party,” said Anayo.
Nominated MCA Lydia Odhiambo also said that Cord leader Raila Odinga has lost one of his foot soldiers in the county as Monica Amollo was a brave ODM supporter.
“Raila has once again lost a soldier as Amollo was as brave as the late Senator Otieno Kajwang. May her soul rest in peace,” she said.
Her nominated counterpart Farida Salim asked the ODM supporters to remain calm and comfort the family and friends of the late party chairlady.
They were speaking at the county precincts on Wednesday.
