Some Kisumu members of the county assembly want Doris Ombara to remain in office as the city manager.
This comes days after Ms Ombara was moved from the position of managing Kisumu City to that of being project director at the Lake-Front Development and Urban Renewal.
The MCAs, who debated the issue during a sitting of the county assembly, also called for the formation of a city board.
Many of the ward representatives faulted Governor Jack Ranguma’s administration for redeploying Ombara to a role they claimed did not exist.
Korwa Central MCA Calvince Oraro moved the motion before Nyalenda B ward representative James Were seconded it.
According to Ms Caroline Owen, the Kisumu North MCA, the governor’s administration had failed to create structures to guide the operations of the city manager.
“The office which Ombara has been deployed is not there,” the MCA said, adding that: “The letter deploying her is casual.”
