Currently, the disbursement of Ward office cash is under investigations by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Acting Kisumu Country Assembly Clerk Owen Ojuok has in the meantime written to the county MCAs to comply with some of the rules to ensure the funds are used prudently.

Ojuok told them to ensure that the contract agreement for the Ward offices are between Landlords and the Assembly.

He said the list of all staff working at the Ward offices with their personal details must be availed to the Assembly.

Ojuok said the staff handling the disbursement should have a temporary renewable contract of three months between them and the County Assembly.

The letter further stressed that the MCAs must avail Bank Statement from the first disbursement to date. The Ward managers were also directed to maintain a Cash Book and do a bank reconciliatory every month.

Ojuok also reminded the MCAs to surrender the impress/ receipts every month as required by law and told those who have not complied to do so to update their records.
