Kisumu MCAs have come out strongly to support the proposed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leadership list by party leader Raila Odinga.
The opposition leader proposed 18 names to lead the party at a Naivasha retreat at a time when the Orange party has been having many in-house wrangles revolved around the party leadership.
Among the major beneficiaries from the list include Budalangi legislator Ababu Namwamba and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who were proposed as party secretary general and deputy party leader respectively.
The proposed list also saw Gwasi MP John Mbadi as the party chairman.
Acting Kisumu County assembly speaker Gabriel Ochieng told our reporter that the proposed list was a fair representation of all tribes and gave the party a national outlook.
“The Raila-proposed list is very OK as it has cut across all regions within the country,” said Ochieng.
“What we have to realise is that not everyone can be rewarded with a leadership position in the party.”
Nominated MCA Lydia Odhiambo also told our reporter that the proposed list was aimed at ending the internal wrangles within the party as every former aspirant was catered for in the list.
“Those who are complaining are only putting their selfish interests first and forgetting that we need to sacrifice many things for the party to move forward.
“Let us support those who were proposed and work together to prove our critics and opponents wrong,” she said.
