Kisumu members of the county assembly have petitioned other leaders from the Nyanza region to form a major political party ahead of the next General Elections.

The political party is set to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta when he will be seeking his re-election into state house on the Jubilee Alliance Party recently formed.

Speaking to the press at the county assembly, the group of MCAs urged the Cord coalition to change tact in the way they were playing politics if they were keen on winning future elections.

Nyalenda ‘B’ ward representative James Were said that there was need to reduce the number of political parties in Nyanza for the unity of the residents.

“Let us reduce the number of political parties in this region as the more the number, the more the chances of our people being politically divided. As leaders from this region, we need to disband the many already existing political parties and form one major party, “said Were.

Nominated MCA Lydia Odhiambo also said that the unity of the people is dependent on the number of political parties.
