The assembly has also asked the Vihiga County government to stop the construction of roads in Kisumu.

Speaker Elijah Omondi who chaired sessions on Wednesday afternoon said that the county of Vihiga should be stopped from collecting revenue at Maseno Town in Kisumu County.

"The county government should seek a permanent resolution to border disputes between Kisumu, Nandi, Kericho and now Vihiga counties. It also should petition the senator and area MP about the matter," said Omondi.

He added: " The government does not sleep, therefore the letter must reach the county government on Thursday at 9am. The letter should petition the county commissioner to respond to the same matter."

In a motion tabled on Wednesday afternoon by North West Kisumu MCA Samuel Ombogo, Maseno is in North West Ward, Kisumu County.

"The two communities, the Luhya and Luos have been living in harmony since 1960s in this area. Mr Speaker, the Vihiga County government is constructing a road which stretches from Maseno to Kombewa. That is communication they have taken the roads in Kisumu County," said Ombogo.

He added: " Mr Speaker, several people are being persuaded to take voters cards in Vihiga County but they are residents of Kisumu County especially within North West Ward."

North West Ward MCA said that the Luhyas in Maseno do not want to surrender tax to Kisumu County officers.

"The other day people from Vihiga County came to Maseno school and destroyed the fence. They purported that the school land is in their land," said Ombogo.

Chief Whip Isaiah Onyango said that getting into the territory of another county is unlawful adding that Vihiga County should stop the road works in Maseno.

Nominated MCA Pamela Oyoo said that the action by locals claiming land in Maseno School will divert the students attention in academics.

Nominated MCA Caroline Ogot said the statements by governor Moses Akaranga previously are reckless and can lead to clashes in a place where communities have lived in harmony.

Seme East MCA Aggrey Ogossi said that the members in Vihiga should be engaged in talks to resolve the matter.
