The assembly majority leader, Samuel Ongou, said the report is accurate and will help in streamlining the operations in the assembly.

Ongou said many a times he has raised cases of corruption and impunity within the assembly but he has been accused of waging vendetta war.

“This is now clear that there are people in this assembly who are bent to rip it off, they have been found, the law takes its course,” he said.

He welcomed the directive by their party leader to dispatch the anti-corruption commission to the assembly to further unearth more ills in the assembly.

Addressing a press conference in Kisumu, Ongou said as assembly they have also suspended the construction of a new assembly that was to cost Sh 800 million.

He said many MCAs had interest in the project and that was also an ingredient for chaos in the assembly.

“That project was bringing a lot of friction in this assembly and I am happy that members have reversed it,” he said.

Ongou said the funds will be channelled back to the 35 wards in the county to spur development.
