The road which falls under the national government has been in a pathetic condition despite numerous demonstrations and appeals from members of the public, who use it on a daily basis.

This road has huge and deep pot holes throughout the entire stretch but is the one relied on to serve the host of business interests and hundreds of residents.

A resident of Guba, Carolinda Awuor said that they have endured a lot of hardships as small cars break down every now and again because of the bad road.

“Apart from our cars feeling the pain, our children have difficulties getting to and from school as most school buses and vans refuse to cover the stretch, citing the poor condition,” she said

Molly Tuli, who runs a charitable organisation that caters for destitute children, said that the road had proved to be a nightmare of sorts.

“When it rains it is pathetic. When it is dry there is too much dust. We appeal to the government to remember us,” she said.

Last month, residents staged a demonstration and even planted banana stems on the road but were dispersed by police officers using tear gas.

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has promised to petition the national government to consider the road repairs.

He spoke while responding to questions from radio listeners during an interview at a local station.

Rasanga defended his government against blame, saying that the road was a function of the national government.
