Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Fred Ouda now wants Rift Valley leaders aligned to Deputy President (DP) William Ruto to tone down on the 2022 presidential race.
Addressing the media at parliament buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, Fred Ouda said that Ruto is not the only leader in Rift Valley who can successfully vie for presidency in 2022.
“Rift Valley has a lot of leaders who can vie for presidency. So far Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi have shown interest. Moi has a right to vie and I urge him to do so,” he said.
“Gideon Moi has the right age to vie to become president, he is learned and he also has leadership qualities,” added the controversial MP.
The MP barked at Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, for always ‘insisting’ that Ruto is the only leader in Rift Valley who can vie for presidency in 2022.
Murkomen who is an ardent support of Ruto has been calling on Senator Moi to shelve his presidential ambitions and support the DP in 2022.
Ruto’s supporters fear that his 2022 presidential game plan maybe under threat after opposition leader Raila Odinga met President Uhuru Kenyatta in March.
Odinga later met Gideon Moi’s father – retired President Daniel Arap Moi and former President Mwai Kibaki.
