Kisumu Minority leader Edwin Anayo has challenged Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party MCAs to stop frustrating the county assembly operations on the basis of lack of a majority leader.

This comes after the ODM party, through a letter signed by Party Secretary General Ababu Namwamba suspended former Majority leader, Samwel Ongow for gross misconduct and undermining of the party leadership.

Other positions that fell vacant after the party’s directive include those of the deputy majority leader and chief whip.

Speaking to this writer today at his Milimani ward office, Anayo said that the ODM MCAs have ensured that the house business comes to a standstill claiming that there is no majority leader.

“ODM MCAs do not have to necessarily paralyse the assembly business simply because the position of the majority leader has been declared vacant by the party. Power and leadership is God-given and any of the 42 members of the ODM party can be the majority leader or the deputy majority leader,” said Anayo.

He further challenged the ODM MCAs to focus on service delivery saying that none of them was elected into the assembly to be a majority leader or chief whip.
