Kisumu County parents have been challenged to educate the young children on teenage pregnancies.
Kisumu county youth’s representative Caleb Omollo speaking at youth forum at Kondele primary school called upon parents to educate their children on teenage pregnancy.
Omollo noted that teenage girls needed sex education challenging parents to frequently create education time on teenage pregnancies, stating that this would curb high rate of school dropouts.
According to the County youth’s representative, most of the parents shy away from discussing sex related issues with their children.
He further challenged parents to frequently teach their children on safe sex habits and discourage teenage sex, stating that most of the teenage boys and girls lacked proper awareness concern on safe sex patterns.
Safe sex habits would curb high rate of teenage pregnancies by the teenagers became aware on irresponsible sex habits.
“Parents are suppose to educate their children on abstinence before marriage, but if at a tall they have to indulge in sex habits, they should then do safe sex,” said Omollo.
Kisumu county gender sociologists Florence Atera also noted such sentiments challenging parents to educate their children on safe sex habits.
