Area ward representative Joseph Abiola said the county government of Kisumu has now employed ECD teachers, and that no child should now be kept at home to do household duties.

“All children who have attained the required age for nursery school should be taken to school, no child should be sent to go look for cattle or do other jobs at home when they should be in school,” he warned.

He said the county government will cater for the teachers’ salaries, and parents will not be asked again to contribute towards the payments of the ECD teachers.

Speaking on Saturday when he addressed 20 ECD teachers for his ward, Abiola added that education standards must now be improved since the foundation has been laid.

He told the ECD teachers who were lucky to be employed to work hard and produce children who are mature academically for enrolment in primary schools.

Abiola announced that he will sponsor examinations for ECD teachers in his ward, to gauge the capability of the newly recruited teachers and give awards as a way of promoting competition in education.

He further thanked Governor Jack Ranguma for his steadfast to ensure the employment of ECD teachers is Fas tracked.
