Kisumu county parents have challenged the county government to train more Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers in order to ensure quality education in the region.
The parents through their education county representative, Amos Wako, speaking on Monday at Tom-Mboya labour college, called upon the county government to allocate its resources to seeing more ECD teachers admitted to learning institutions.
Wako noted the county government needed to upgrade its education by building a strong foundation at the root through creating institutions that would impart ECD teachers with knowledge.
He said the education CeC ought to have laid resources in upgrading education in the county stating that education was the key to most avenues.
“In order to promote education in the region, we need to create worthy institution that would give ECD teachers proper skills since children should acquire proper learning skills at a tender age,” said Wako
His counterpart Beatrice Amollo also noted that more ECD teachers needed to be properly trained in order to give the infants a proper foundation in learning.
According to Amollo, instituting ECD centres and giving proper training to teachers will ensure education in the region would be highly natured.
She further called upon parents to highly invest in their children’s education.
“Let’s create an educational environment in the region. This can only be done if the locals and caregivers give education a proper view,” said Amollo.
