Police in Kisumu on shot and killed three suspected thugs in a Friday night incidence where they also recovered one AK47 rifle with 26 rounds of ammunition.
During the 9.30pm shootout that occurred at Desnol petrol station along the Kisumu-Bondo road, police also recovered a browning pistol, two pangas and a motor vehicle whose ownership is yet to be verified.
Confirming the happenings, Kisumu County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim disclosed that the suspects had been trailed from Kisumu town after a tip off from the public.
“The criminals were said to be targeting an Mpesa shop in Maseno area,” he said on Saturday.
Police however caught up with them at the petrol station and ordered them to surrender, something that prompted the suspects to start firing.
The dead bodies were taken to Jaramogi Oginga Referral Hospital mortuary for identification, postmortem and further investigation.
