Christine Pete was crowned at Tom Mboya Labour College on Sunday by former Kisumu County Miss Tourism Kenya 2013, Wendy Odhiambo.

Pete, a final year bachelor of arts in social work student, comes from Nyando Sub County. The first and second runners up were Linet Akoth from Nyakach and Dorcas Anyango from Kisumu West.

The beauty queen defeated 24 finalists and she will carry the county’s flag during the Miss Tourism Kenya national finals next month.

“I have a lot of passion for the tourism sector and I believe the county made the right choice to help them develop and market the sector,’ Pete said.

She thanked fellow contestants, her parents and county government for supporting her throughout her competition.

Pete said marketing domestic and ecosystem tourism will be her major role both locally and internationally. She said empowering girls will also be her key role.

Governor Jack Ranguma promised to support Pete in her projects to attract local and foreign tourists for revenue generation.
