A Kisumu resident, Bonface Ogutu Akach has launched a hunger strike in Kondele, protesting the deportation of self proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna.
Through a Facebook post, Ogutunoted that he will not eat until the outspoken lawyer gets the justice he deserves.
The Kondele resident stated that he would rather die of hunger than live in a country full of discrimination and impunity.
Ogutu said that the government must give Miguna full access to his constitutional freedoms.
"Today, I have began my hunger strike in protest at the outright human rights violations and complete disregard of the constitution by the government of Kenya. I would rather die than to live in a country where discrimination and impunity are becoming order of the day," he posted.
"The government must allow Miguna Miguna to have unconditional access in his country and assure all Kenyans that it will protect, respect and uphold the constitution. I will not eat anything until this is done. Let me be that young man who decided to be mad or insane enough for a while just to perform a simple constitutional function as stipulated in *Chapter 1, Article 3(1).* So Help Me God," he added.
