The prices of most commodities had been inflated during the Christmas festive season, with some of the basic household commodities facing a price hike.

Speaking to journalist on Wednesday at the Jommo Kenyatta Sports ground in Kisumu, Kisumu Residents Voice Association Chairman Ogada asked the business community to reduce the prices of both household and agricultural commodities in January.

Ogada said that most parents and students will be facing a huge financial burden of school fees, books and other stationery, uniforms and other academic materials.

“The business community needs to understand that in January, most parents and guardians normally have the heaviest financial burden. In as much as they are in business, we have to have the interests of the customers at heart,” added Ogada.

Manyatta Youth Bunge Chairman Benson Onoka, who was also present during the press briefs asked the business community to consider lowering the prices and hike them back towards April when most parents and guardians have regained their stability.
