Kisumu residents have asked the Council of Governors to stop accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of not supporting devolution.
The residents accused the governors and MCAs of frustrating devolution with their constant wrangles and records of poor development and cases of corruption leveled against some of them.
Speaking to the press at Jommo Kenyatta Sports ground today, Kisumu Residents Voice Association Chairman Audi Ogada said that devolution in kisumu has been frustrated by Governor Jack Ranguma and the MCAs.
Audi said that cases of Ranguma giving out money to the MCAs to pass or frustrate bills in the assembly are well known in the county.
He argued that the credibility of the county leadership was questionable saying that the assembly ‘was going to bed with’ the executive.
“How do you except devolution to take shape when Governor Ranguma and the hungry MCAs will do anything for money? The governors cannot continue accusing the national government of not giving them enough funds when even the little that they have been given is not going to good use,” said Audi.
His Manyatta Youth Bunge counterpart challenged Governor Ranguma to allow the assembly to conduct its mandate to the residents of Kisumu.
He also called on the MCAs to have dignity in their roles.
