Residents of Kisumu County have criticised County representatives’ over their recent trip to Uganda. According to George Otieno, one of the residents, the trip was unnecessary and a waste of public resources. Otieno said leaders who sanctioned the trip should be questioned and forced to return the funds used during the trip. The County Assembly members of Kisumu alongside the staff have been camping in Uganda since last Friday. The aim of the trip is not clear at a time the MCAs had moved a motion for a recess to sometimes in February next year. “We knew they were on recess, how come they are on official duty again in Uganda. What are they doing there? Asked Otieno. As they travelled back to Kisumu yesterday, local residents called for their arrested saying they should explain the source of the funds that took them to Uganda. “They should be rounded up and explain whose funds they use to go to Uganda and how that trip would benefit the common man,” said John Atinda, another resident. The trip comes amid accusations by locals over neglect by the county assembly and failure to implement developmental projects.
