The residents have now challenged the government to better their housing, saying it will improve their living standards and allow them to enjoy the fruits of devolution.

Maendeleo ya wanawake representative Gladys Wanga reiterated this while speaking in a fundraising on Tuesday morning within Obunga residential area.

Wanga said locals were suffering from housing issues, and more houses needed to be built to improve locals’ living standards and settle those who lacked proper housing.

‘’We need to come up with strategies to improve our peoples living standards by constructing more houses that are worthwhile to settle in,” said Wanga.

Human activist John odegi, who also attended the fundraising event at Obunga, said housing in the region is a key issue, and efforts needed to be in place by seeing more houses built, which is commensurate to local’s population and demands.

Locals lack sufficient houses in the region, and it is a challenge to the county government to see into it that devolution has gotten roots by building more houses.

“Housing facilities are very poor in the region, especially around Obunga and efforts needed to be place to settle the locals amicably,” added Odegi.
