The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Thursday shocked the whole country when it requested for the removal of Senate Moses Wetangula as the Senate Minority leader.
Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka approved the request but suspended it until he receives official communication from the NASA coalition.
The move by ODM elicited a lot of reactions from different quotas. In Kisumu, residents welcomed the move adding that the Minority leader requires a strong person.
"The Senate Minority leader is a position that needs a vibrant outspoken leader. The whole country witnessed how Wetangula presented himself as a coward when he failed to attend Raila Odinga's swearing in ceremony. Do you expect us to trust him with such a position?" John Okello a businessman from Kisumu said.
Wetangula's removal from office seems to be a done deal since a majority of Senators (16 out of 20) have already signed a petition for his removal.
"Even the Bible says if you do not work you should not eat. We are going to appoint competent leaders to such posts. Even a standard two kid knows Senator James Orengo has delivered much to the NASA coalition than Moses Wetangula. Orengo in Wetangula out," Esther Anyango a salonist in Kisumu opined.
In the application, ODM wants Wetangula removed and his position taken by Senator James Orengo.
