President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga met on Friday last week, and resolved to start a series of countrywide tours to ease the political tension witnessed in the country during last year's poll.
Reports indicate that the opposition leader will take President Kenyatta to Nyanza where he enjoys massive support.
Following the revelation, a section of Kisumu residents have warmly welcomed the move terming it as the best strategy for uniting Kenyans from all over the country.
"We would love to see President Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition leader together in Kisumu and Nyanza at large. It is time to forget our differences and work together for the better of this country as we have been lagging behind in terms of development," Charles Omollo a businessman in Kondele, Kisumu said.
His sentiment was echoed by another resident who noted that it was now time to stop politics and welcome development.
"There comes a time in a country when the development matters than our own personal gains. We cannot talk of politics for five years.
"Let's give the government of the day ample time to deliver. We really support the Uhuru - Raila union and we welcome them to Nyanza. We are the people." James Odiambo a bodaboda operator in Kisumu said.
It will be the first time President Kenyatta and Raila will visit Kisumu together.
