Carwash residents in Kisumu’s Migosi ward can now breathe a sigh of relief after the County government moved to repair the Kondele-Kibos road.
The road, which has been in a pathetic condition for the past four years, is one of the busiest roads in the county as it leads to the biggest estates in the town; Migosi and Gudca and also the Kibos Sugar factory.
The repair, which started on Wednesday, came as a shock to the residents who say that they had given up hope of the road ever being repaired.
Carwash Residents Association (CRA) Organising Secretary Emmanuel Abungu told HiviSasa.com they had stormed Governor Jack Ranguma’s office in February demanding to have the roads in the area repaired to avoid accidents.
Abungu said that it will now be easier for ambulances, police patrol cars, matatus and personal vehicles to drive along the road once the repair is completed.
A source at the county government headquarter said that the road repair is expected to take not more than two weeks, information that area MCA Paul Achayo confirmed.
Kisumu Traffic Boss Joshua Omukata however warned motorists to drive safely once the road repair is completed.
