Kisumu County residents are set to benefit from a Media House being built by the county Senator Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o.
Kisumu Senate Manager Babu Karan said that Prof. Nyong’o’s move to build Media House is aimed at expanding media network in the Western region and also improve on media freedom.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Karan said that the facility is also set to help curb high rate of unemployment among many youths in the county.
“Residents will be employed in different departments starting from reception, cleaners, technicians, engineers, journalists among others. The Media House will also need services of experts from other counties as well,” said Karan.
He said that the Foundation which was was laid by Cord Leader Raila Odinga last year is set to be completed before the end of this year and will be opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Karan added that the Media House will house both Radio and Television stations with the radio station already in place.
“The Radio Station known as Sky Fm is already in place with a frequency of 98.1,” said Karan.
