Residents of Migosi area in Kisumu County can now breathe a sigh of relief after the county government moved in to tarmac road in the area.
Area MCA Paul Achayo told this reporter that the move by the county government to tarmac roads in the area was aimed at improving on accessibility and security in the area in which cases of crime are rampant.
“The repair and tarmacking of roads will really help our residents especially now that the rate of crime is high in the area. By tarmacking the roads leading to our estates, we are going to create accessible roads for police patrols to take place in the area, “said Achayo.
Achayo added that it will now be easier for ambulances and even privately owned cars to access the area.
He added: “This will also reduce cases of people dying before reaching the hospitals as it will now be easier for ambulances to reach the patients and ferry them to the hospitals. Cases of people being robbed as they drive back home will also be curbed as the roads will be well tarmacked making it easier for residents to easily escape from the attackers.”
The county government is currently working on a slum upgrading project aimed at making slum areas more accessible to improve on security and accessibility in the areas.
