Kisumu residents have accused the Non Governmental Organisations in the county for not creating employment opportunities to the locals especially youths and women.
Kisumu voice representative chairperson Audi Ogada while speaking at Imperial Hotel meant to check the integrity of the NGOs input in offering service to the locals.
He noted that a great number of residents were unemployed, and lacked proper capacity building amongst them, challenging the NGO bodies not to use the resources in unjustifiable way leaving their key objective to raise the local’s living standards.
The residents’ spokesperson challenged the NGOs to use the youths and women in most research they conducted, noting that by doing that the locals would have been empowered through trainings, job opportunities and them getting engaged.
“Let us ensure the youths and women living standards get improved, by sensitising, training and engaging them in various job opportunities they would suit best,” said Audi.
Migosi MCA Paul Achayo also challenged the NGOs to make sure youths were properly engaged in their activities through trainings, empowering, sensitisations and job opportunities.
