“Kisumu residents need to be empowered economically for them to make good use of themselves and the society. This can only be achieved if they become vibrant enough and access funds such as the Uwezo and the Youth Development funds,” said Anayo.

Anayo further said that this could go a long way in empowering residents to be able to supply tenders to many business enterprises within the lakeside county.

The Market/Milimani Ward representative was talking on Thursday in Kisumu after managing to secure a tender to three of the area residents to supply the newly opened Naivas supermarket with tomatoes, onions and other vegetables.

He added that some of the suppliers he had introduced earlier had stopped supplying the supermarket due to inability to meet the supermarket’s demand on the quantity needed.

“How I wish the Uwezo fund and the Youth Development Fund could help our people to make good use of themselves and engage more on such projects,” added the MCA.

He further urged leaders from Kisumu to sensitise their constituents on the importance of accessing such funds.
