Pupils of Kosawo Primary School in Kisumu County have been presented with laptops under the Digital Learning Programme.
Speaking during the issuance of the gadgets to learners in the school, Mining PS Ibrahim Mohamed said education plays an immense role in the lives of Kenyans as the nation looks forward to attaining vision 2030.
“This is one of the social pillars under Vision 2030 to make children ICT savvy and have the required skills to compete in the digital world,” he said as quoted by The Star.
The PS called on teachers and other stakeholders in the school to introduce learners to information technology ( IT) at an early stage in their education in order to make them learn faster as well as boost them when it comes to research.
The PS told staff and students of the school, which has a population of 297 that the programme will be extended to class two.
He also said by 2018, students of the other classes including standard eight will be given laptops.
Mohamed informed those present at the event that each school has a group of teachers to educate learners on the use of the same.
