The County Education boss said that there was need for schools in Kisumu to perform well so as to survive in the competitive market of schools.

“Parents nowadays normally look for schools that not only perform excellently in academics but also those that instill virtues such as discipline, hardwork and self-esteem in their children,” said Kere.

“I want to challenge our secondary and high school heads to mould our children into people who are ready to fit in the society and the career market,” added Kere.

She however noted that some of the secondary schools in the county were performing well nationally, hence making Kisumu as the ideal county to study in.

“Maseno School has over the years made us proud. Kisumu Girls has also been performing well over the last few years and my ministry is challenging other schools to follow suit,” said Kere.

“Everyone wants to be associated with success and that is why it’s high time our schools provided more than just academic excellence to our children,” added the executive.
