Kisumu County senator Fred Otieno Outa has been accused of peddling corruption lies against Kisumu County officials.
The senator is being accused of lying as a strategy for being elected Kisumu governor during the 2022 general elections.
On Monday, Fred Outa accused acting Kisumu county secretary Olang’o Onudi and Kisumu governor professor Peter Anyang Nyong’os political adviser Abala Wanga for awarding Sh200 million road tenders without following laid down procedures.
The senator claimed that the two officers awarded the tenders to their cronies, and asked the governor to take action against them.
But in a quick rejoinder, Governor Nyong’o’s adviser Abala Wanga said the non-factual and baseless attack was an indirect indication of Outa's 2022 governor ambitions.
"We have established that Outa has formed the belief that Nyong’o's is a passing government. He is held hostage by politics of 2022, with the idea that peddling lies will give him an edge or political mileage for his governor ambition," he told the press in Kisumu on Wednesday.
Wanga dared Outa to table evidence to support his corruption allegations instead of mudslinging, urging him to work with the Governor for the sake of development.
The officer said that the national government has not released funds to the county, advising the senator to push for the release of the funds.
