Kisumu Senator Fred Outa has called upon the government to release the report on school fire incidents.

Outa who visited Onjiko High School on Saturday which got burnt last week said the report must be released.

Outa said the trend at which schools are getting burnt and a solution must be found.

“A Commission was set up last year when the country was experiencing more school fires, why is the release of the report taking ages. Again we are witnessing more fires yet public funds were used to generate a report,” he said.

He noted that the report will help in guiding the school management to stop any further fires in school.

The former Nyando MP said that it is sad or students to set their schools on fire.

He challenged parents to talk to their children and not pass that responsibility to teachers with an aim of ending indiscipline in schools.

“There are a lot of indiscipline in our schools and parents have abdicated their role of instilling discipline in their children,” he said.

He said the government is suing a lot of resources to up infrastructures in schools and it is regrettable that some rogue students destroy such investments in a flush.
