A suspected drug peddler was today morning arraigned before a Kisumu chief magistrate to answer to the charges of being in possession of cocaine.
Harrison Omollo however, denied the charges before Kisumu chief magistrate, Thomas Obutu.
Omollo was reportedly arrested on Sunday along the Kisumu Busia road with cocaine of a market value of Sh20,000 at a roadblock mounted in Kisian.
According to the prosecution, the accused had earlier been arrested in possession of banned substances but released due to lack of evidence.
The prosecution requested the court to remand the accused who is a resident of Kisumu, in order to facilitate the completion of investigations into the matter.
The cocaine that was nabbed was taken to the government chemist for further tests.
Additionally, the prosecution asked for more time as they were yet to acquire a search warrant, to conduct further investigations in the accused house, as they believe he might have more narcotics in his house.
However, Omollo told the court he had poor health that could not allow him to stay in a police cell for that long.
Obutu remanded the accused for ten days and ordered the prosecution to accompany him to hospital.
The case will be mentioned on May 25.
