Kisumu’s county government will invest Sh400 million to construct modern schools in informal settlements within the area. The soon to be built schools which will receive Sh 80 million each are funded by the French International Development Agency which is partnered up with Kisumu Urban Project.
Kisumu’s City Manager Doris Ombara says the fund is target to construct state-of-the art institutions in Obunga, Myanyatta and other slum locations within the area.
Ombara also pointed out that the county will collaborate with the French government to raise more funds to also build schools two or three more schools within Kisumu’s central business district
“We will ensure that each school built will have an Early Childhood Development Education Centre, this will go a long way in setting the foundation right before the students can move on to advanced classes,” she said.
