Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Thursday paid a courtesy call to Director General of Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) Eng. Peter Mundinia.

The meeting according to the governor deliberated on the status of roads in Kisumu more to Awasi-Katito and Muhoroni-Mamboleo roads which fall under the jurisdiction of the Authority.

“The Director General assured full support in his effort to improve the infrastructure of Kisumu County and promised to get to the ground once the parliament passes Kenya Roads Bill to give effect to the fourth schedule of the constitution in relation to the roads sector,” Nyong’o said.

Governor Nyong'o noted that the Bill proposes to review, consolidate and nationalize legal and institutional frameworks to help in the management of the road network and roads sub-sector in a more efficient and effective manner.

He explained that the Bill provided for the establishment and composition of the Kenya National Highways Authority, Kenya National Secondary roads Authority and managing Boards of such authorities, powers and functions.

The Governor was accompanied by his advisor on investment and Resource Mobilization Mr Victor Nyagaya.
