Youths in Kisumu have distanced themselves from a planned demonstration by the Kisumu County Assembly MCAs to protest against Governor Jack Ranguma.

The protest was over the issue of former City Manager Doris Ombara.

Kisumu County youth council chairman Barnabas Odeny said the youth will not allow to be used by the MCAs.

“I want to tell politicians that the youth will not allow to be used for political gain. We will only join them if what is at stake is useful to young people,” he said.

Odeny said the demonstration is not meaningful to the youth and told the MCAs to mind about their roles.

He called upon the MCAs to push for the formation of the City Board instead of demonstrating against Governor Ranguma.

Addressing a press conference in Kisumu on Monday, Odeny dared the women MCAs who claimed that they will strip during the demonstration to go ahead and make real their threat.

He said that the youth will instead camp at Governor Ranguma’s office tomorrow to expose the MCAs who want to strip naked.

“We will be at the Governor’s office tomorrow (Tuesday) to wait for those women MCAs to strip. We will take their clothes so that the people of Kisumu can see the kind of leadership they elected,” he said.

Women MCAs last week led by nominated MCA Caroline Ogot announced that they will strip naked as a way of protesting against the removal of Ombara as the city manager.
