The Kisumu politics which had in the past been a male affair, is starting to experience some change as the county Assembly has a significant number of female politicians.

Political re-alignments in the county are already taking shape in readiness for 2017 which is expected to be a hotly contested affair in the county.

To the male politicians in the area, they should have a reason to be worried as women politicians in the county have given them a warning shot that they will be given a run for their money.

Manyatta B MCA Nereah Akoth Okombo says she will defend her seat and that she has fully guarded it, warning that any man interested in the same seat should be ready for a fight.

Her West Seme ward counterpart Ogollah Benter Akinyi's narrative is not any different.

‘We don’t fear men anymore like we used to do in the past. We have now woken up from our deep slumber and we dare them to come and fight with us’, said Mrs Akinyi on Tuesday.

The battle lines have been drawn and men should be ready for an uphill task in 2017 lest they be sent to political oblivion.
