A section of Kisumu Youth has threatened to take legal action against the county government if they are not incorporated in leadership. According to a local daily, the youths said that they will file a case against first time Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s government if he ignores them in key appointments.

The Kisumu County Youth Movement has faulted the county boss for failing to appoint a youth into his cabinet. Led by convener George Abwajo, they said that the youth played an immense role in his election, adding that they deserve jobs in his new government.

The argued that the governor would have taken into account regional balance, youths, equity and different marginalized groups during the appointment of his cabinet. They spoke during a press conference on Thursday in Kisumu town.

 “As youths, we missed out in the executive appointments. We therefore demand that we be given an opportunity in the running of county affairs,” Abwajo said, as quoted by The Star.

 The youth, however, hailed the Governor for embarking on delivering on his pre-election promises and asked him not to forget them when naming his chief officers. They further said that they have sent several representatives to the governor, but their efforts are yet to bear any fruits.

 The county boss is also expected include youths in the 11-member city management board.
