Youths in Kisumu County have been asked to ensure that they have Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) certificates, in order for their registered companies to be awarded tenders at the county.

Nominated Kisumu Member of County Assembly Lydia Odhiambo has asked the youth to get the AGPO certificates, for the number of youths being awarded tenders by the county government to increase.

While speaking during a fundraiser on Sunday at Nyahera in kisumu West constituency, Governor Jack Ranguma told the residents to express interests to supply the county government with different items.

“Do not shy away from supplying your county with various items as you should be part of the county’s development,” said Ranguma.

Speaking on Sunday during a different church service at Nyakach African Inland Church (AIC), Odhiambo asked the youth to speed up the acquisition of the AGPO certificate before the county government advertises the next interests of tenders.

“We need to get the youth involved in the development of Kisumu, and that is why I am appealing to all those with registered companies interested in being awarded tenders by the county government to act fast in ensuring that they get the required Access to Government Procurement Opportunities certificate,” said Odhiambo.

“Once this is done, I will personally ensure as the youths’ representative in the county assembly that fairness is done and those qualified are awarded with the respective tenders that they showed their interests in,” added Lydia.

The nominated MCA also assured the youth that she will follow up and demand for the list of all those who have qualified.
