Christened the The Kisumu Talents Industry, the platform will be an avenue for the youths to showcase their talents while being nurtured at the same time.

The industry, an initiative of local youth leaders, seeks to reduce crime rates in Kisumu by ensuring unemployment among young people is countered  through pursuing individual talents.

Speaking during the launch in Kisumu, Talents Industry Director Bovince Ochieng said many youths in the region were unemployed and crime was the only option out of poverty, but they will now embark on promoting talents to reduce the vice in the county.

“This is an opportunity for the unemployed youths to sell their talents to the outside world, it will help in naturing their talent as well as earn a living,” said Ochieng’.

Speaking during the same event, Kisumu County women representative Rose Nyamunga, urged the county government to spearhead the promotion of talents in the region, by enacting relevant legislations that will provide a suitable environment for the youths to reap from their talents.

“I urge Kisumu County government to come up with legislations that will enable our youths explore their talents freely and at the same time reaping the benefits,” said Nyamunga.
