Kisumu Central Member of Parliament (MP) Fred Odhiambo Ouda holds a record in the county, that may take ages to break.
He was the only candidate elected to parliament after previously serving as a Member of the County Assembly (MCA).
In 2013, the youthful and controversial leader was elected Gem Central MCA in Siaya County before being elected MP last year.
Kisumu County has seven constituencies; namely Kisumu Central, Kisumu West, Kisumu East, Seme, Nyando, Muhoroni and Nyakach.
Apart from Ouda, the other seven MPs either defended their seats or were elected for the first time without having served as MCAs.
The former MCA won the ODM party Primaries in Kisumu Central ahead of last year’s general elections, before finally being elected to replace the former MP Ken Obura.
In the nominations, Ouda got 6,694 votes to beat incumbent Ken Obura who had 1,040 votes.
Other contestants were George Onyango Oloo who got 4,991 votes, Richard Ogendo who got 879 votes and former Kisumu Mayor Sam Okello who managed 571 votes.
Oloo is currently Kisumu County Assembly Speaker; Ogendo is serving in Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o’s cabinet while Obura is Chief Administrative Secretary in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
