Kitale Golf Club chairman Brigadier (Rtd) Moses Yator has been shot dead by unknown gangsters.
Yator was gunned down by the assailants on Saturday night while he was on his way home from the golf club.
The armed men ambushed the deceased and his wife as they approached their home at around 10:30 pm, shooting him from the rear window of his car.
The club’s captain Patrice Tomno confirmed the killing of their chairman.
“After I left the club the chairman was finishing his dinner at around 10.23pm. I arrived at 10.33pm and that was when I received a call that he has been shot," Tomno, who was the last person to see the deceased, told The Nation.
Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Samson ole Kine confirmed the incident.
He said that the gangsters robbed the couple Sh25,000 plus two mobile phones before fleeing from the scene.
"We suspect the gun used to shoot him from the back was an assault rifle suspected to be an AK-47," he said, adding that police have launched an investigation into the incident.
