Misfiring AFC Leopards striker Alexis Kitenge will leave the tam at the end of the season.

This is according to Ingwe head coach Robert Matano.

Speaking after their 1-0 win over Chemilil Sugar at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, Matano lamented over the several chances Kitenge had missed in the match.

“We should have scored more goals, at least over three goals but that Burundian (Kitenge) could not do the simplest thing a striker should do. I don’t know how he found his way here, but I can confirm he won’t be part of this team next season,” a charged Matano said.

Matano added that he only fielded the Burundian because there were no other options for him in the team.

“We don’t have options. I’ve been saying we had to cope with some of these players who have failed completely to realise what it means to wear the Leopards jersey. We cannot keep them in the team anymore,” Matano added.

Since he took over from Englishman Stewart Hall in July, the former Ulinzi Stars coach has maintained that the current Leopards team does not have the depth that befits the local giant they are.
